The first thing you must do before you submit any of your
web pages do is make sure that all of the internal links
on your site actually work.
Many factors can & do effect the search results returned
by search engines. One of these major factors is whether
or not your site is full of dead links.
There's nothing worse then for a web surfer to click on
your link and get a"404 link not found" error!
This is true of the search engines as well. You don't want
the search engine spiders coming to your site and then leaving
because your site has bad links!
Even just one or two bad links on your web site can cause
the search engine spiders to penalize your web site and
lower your ranking or worse yet - ignore your site altogether!
Now I know this sounds kind of silly doesn't it, after
all its commonsense -- right? But you would be surprised
at the number of web sites with broken links.
In fact I'd be willing to bet that 90% of all web sites
have at least two broken internal links.
The reason that this is so important is that if the search
engine spiders hit a dead link in your web site they might
leave and not index your entire site.
If this happens you have to wait weeks, sometimes months
before that spider will try again.
There's no need to waste this valuable time, getting index
takes long enough as it is so make sure that all of your
internal links work correctly.
This is very easy to do using your web page creation software
like Dreamweaver or FrontPage or the internal site link
checker that you'll find at: http://www.thieptraitim.com.
This "link checker" drills down through your
site to ferret out bad links so you can fix them before
the search engine spiders can find them!
Best of luck, and see you at the top!
